Interview with Matt on HBP set

Posted by Jess on 08-22-2008 21:36:51 PDT

A new interview by Cinema.de has surfaced online where Dan, Rupert, Matt, Bonnie, and Evanna were interviewed on the HBP set last November. It's entirely dubbed in German, however Bonnie Wright Online has provided a transcript.

This is what Matt says:

Is this like a second home for you?
ML: Definitely. And I also sleep here. They tell you to look asleep and I really fall asleep. The beds are extremely comfortable. And I do come here for seven years now.

Warner Bros Apologizes to Fans

Posted by Hider on 08-20-2008 12:10:12 PDT

The Leaky Cauldron reports that the following message has been sent to various fan sites from Warner Bros to apologize to fans for upsetting them with the change in Half-Blood Prince's release date.

Many of you have written to me to express your disappointment in our moving “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” to Summer 2009. Please be assured that we share your love for Harry Potter and would certainly never do anything to hurt any of the films. Over the past 10 years, we have nurtured and protected each film, and the integrity of the books upon which they are based, to the best of our ability. The decision to move “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” was not taken lightly, and was never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans. We know you have built this series into what it is, and we thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and support. If I may offer a silver lining: there would have been a two-year gap between “Half-Blood Prince” and the much-anticipated first part of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” which opens in November 2010. So although we have to wait a little longer for “Half-Blood Prince,” the wait from that film until “Deathly Hallows” will be less than 18 months. I am sorry to have disappointed you now, but if you hold on a little longer, I believe it will be worth the wait.

Press Archive ; RSS Feed ; New (Old) Images

Posted by Hider on 08-19-2008 14:58:07 PDT

I've updated all kinds of things around the site today. The first addition is new press archive. I considered making it a subsite before deciding that inputting it right into the current news script would make the whole thing easier to use and browse through. There aren't too many articles up yet but there are a few so feel free to take a look. If you know of any good articles or interviews that feature Matt, please let me know!

And now that the archive is set up, I've also set up an RSS feed for the site. At the moment, no images or links display but it will serve as a way to alert you when there are new articles and updates on the site. Hopefully I'll be able to tweek it a bit later but in the meantime, you can find the RSS link on the sidebar and by using this link.

I've also added images from two events Matt attended that related to the Yorkshire Young Achiever Awards, which he was a winner of last year. The gallery now has images from the banquet where he was given his award and the event that launched this years search for new achievers. Check them out by clicking on the thumbnails below.

Last but not definitely not least, I have a problem I need your guys help with. The yearly renewal for the domain, as well as the pricey hosting fee, is coming up, and I'm having trouble coming up with the money. I really hate to even ask, but it's coming down to the wire and my options are limited.

So if you have even a two or three dollars you can spare to help the keep site up and running, I would really appreciate it. You can do so by using the PayPal donate button at the bottom of the sidebar and I swear that the money is going directly towards the sites bill and nowhere else. I might even be able to come up with a cool way to thank you for your generosity at some point.

Regardless, thanks for reading this and continuing to the vist the site. All of you guys support has meant loads to me and Jess!

HBP News and Image

Posted by Hider on 08-14-2008 21:34:03 PDT

Horrible news, folks. Half-Blood Prince has been pushed back eleven months! Apparently the success of The Dark Knight is to blame. For those interested in all of the details, you can read the article here. The only bright side is that Deathly Hallows filming will not be pushed back and will continue to stay on schedule. Maybe this means there will be less time between those releases? Let's hope so.

There is, however, a new promo still from the movie that's come out. Thanks to HBP Movie Pics, I've added a shot of the group at one of Slughorn's parties. You can only see Neville from behind (I'm assuming that's him) but better than nothing right?

Also, I want to welcome our new top affiliate: Jessie Cave Net! Those girls run one awesome site so make sure to check it out :)

I'm working on a bunch of new features of the site so check back soon for lots of new additions!

Half-Blood Prince Moves to Summer of 2009

Posted by Hider on 08-14-2008 11:44:57 PDT

Source: Market Watch

BURBANK, Calif., Aug 14, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that it has moved back the release date of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to Summer 2009. The sixth installment of the blockbuster Harry Potter franchise will now open day-and-date domestically and in the major international markets on July 17, 2009. The announcement was made by Alan Horn, President and Chief Operating Officer, Warner Bros.

In making the announcement, Mr. Horn stated, "Our reasons for shifting Half-Blood Prince to summer are twofold: we know the summer season is an ideal window for a family tent pole release, as proven by the success of our last Harry Potter film, which is the second-highest grossing film in the franchise, behind only the first installment. Additionally, like every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers' strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films--changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of. We agreed the best strategy was to move 'Half-Blood Prince' to July, where it perfectly fills the gap for a major tent pole release for mid-summer."

Jeff Robinov, President of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, confirmed, "The release date change does not alter the production schedule for this or future Harry Potter films. Post-production on Half-Blood Prince was completed on time, and the studio's release plans for the two-part Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will not be affected by this change. We know Harry Potter fans are eagerly anticipating seeing the final chapters unfold onscreen. In fact, the good news for them is that the gap will now be shortened between Half-Blood Prince and the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

Commenting on the release date change for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, David Heyman, the producer of all the Harry Potter films, offered, "When Jeff Robinov explained the rationale behind moving the release date of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to July 2009, it was immediately apparent that this offered us the potential to reach the widest possible audience. I am extremely proud of this latest film and of the work of David Yates and our incomparable cast; I believe we have developed and pushed the series further still. We are all looking forward to sharing it with Harry Potter fans around the world, even if we have to wait just a bit longer."

David Yates, the director of both Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and who will also helm Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, added, "It has been a joy to work on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Dan, Rupert and Emma and all our returning young cast continue to blossom, and our new cast members bring fresh color and life to Hogwarts. Even as we put the finishing touches on this latest film, we are already beginning preparations on the final two films--we start filming in February--and I am excited to bring this remarkable series to the exciting and moving conclusion its loyal fans deserve."

DragonCon 2008!

Posted by Hider on 07-09-2008 10:06:23 PDT

Matt will be attending DragonCon again this year! The convention that focuses on "science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the US" is held in Atlanta, Georgia every year and Matt has previously attended. His brother Anthony, as well as Harry Potter co-star Devon Murray (Seamus Finnigan) will also be there, along with a whole slew of guests that you can check out on the website.

The event will take place Labor Day weekend, from Friday, August 29 to Monday, September 1, 2008 at four different hotels in Atlanta, Georgia: the Atlanta Hilton, the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel and the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.

If anyone plans to attend, please let us know! We'd love to add your pictures/encounters to the site (with full credit of course)! Thanks to the The Snitch Seeker for letting us know!

On a related note, I've added some new images to the gallery, all of which are from last year's DragonCon. They were donated by Tanya so I want to send a special thanks to her. Also, because they are her personal pictures, please do not post them elsewhere. If you'd like to show them, simply link to the site or specific album. Thank you!

An Opportunity to Feel a Sense of Achievement

Posted by Hider on 07-02-2008 11:33:15 PDT

Source: Yorkshire Evening Post

Previous winners include motormouth DJ Chris Moyles and Leeds beauty Nell McAndrews - but you don't need to be famous to win a Yorkshire Achievers Award.

The accolades, now in their 16th year, recognize outstanding under-35-year-olds from across the region who have made an impact nationally or locally. Their success could involve a triumph over adversity or accomplishing great things in business, sport, education or the arts.

Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis and artist Darren Baker, both former winners, were joined by 2007 Youngster of the Year Jack Marshall to launch this year's search at ITV Yorkshire in Leeds.

Matthew, 19, whose big-screen performances as Harry's faithful pal Neville Longbottom landed him last year's Achievement in the Arts Award sponsored by the Yorkshire Evening Post, said: "It was incredible – it meant a lot to me. And being asked to do this, to be asked to come along and open it up is fantastic."

Matthew, who grew up in Horsforth but now lives in Burley, has recently finished filming Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince – out in November. In February he starts work on Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final film which is being split into two parts.

Huddersfield artist Darren, Management and Enterprise Achievement Award winner in 2005, set up his own business five years ago with a grant from The Prince's Trust and has now been commissioned to paint the Queen's portrait later this year.

Other past winners include Leeds chart-toppers Kaiser Chiefs, Spice Girl Mel B, cricketer Michael Vaughan and singer Gareth Gates.

The awards, set up and sponsored by McCormicks Solicitors of Harrogate, have raised more than £500,000 for leading children's charity NCH.

Nomination forms are available from www.yorkshireyoung-achievers.co.uk or from Zoe Ward on 01423 530630. The closing date is Friday September 12 and the winners will be revealed at a dinner on November 6.
